Bio
This started out as a journal about my 2007 NaNoWriMo novel, The Mirror Crack'd, but I think it's fair to say that I have started writing and talking about other things, so it was time to change the profile and the title. I've titled it Writings from the Abyss for two reasons. First, anytime I need to pick a location for a forum, I always pick "the Abyss". Secondly, I've learned that I have troubles writing "light" stories. I spent about 2 months trying to write a normal good guy vs. bad guy novel, and it didn't actually spark my interest until I changed the narrator to one of the "bad guys" who is going to reform himself over the course of the novel. While there is a typical plot in the background, the real plot is about his transformation.

I do have other interests, and I may talk about them in this journal as well, although I already have journals for some of my interests. I like keeping things separate because it makes it easier to find what I'm looking for and for some reason it just seems to make more sense of the chaos in my mind. Chances are, if I end up wanting to talk about a particular subject other than writing on a regular basis, I will end up creating another journal about that.

Finally, I should note that I'm horrid about updating. I go through spurts and phases of avid posting and then no posting, and have a tendency to go months without posting at all.

Most of my entries are public, but if it's a snippet of writing, it will likely be friends-locked for publication reasons (i.e. if it's on a public page, it will be considered "published", and thus real publishers will likely not want to publish it). Also, some more emotional topics may be locked, and some things might be filtered to a specific group.

Because I'm so good at using filters, I generally friend anyone who would like to be friended, and then put closer friends in specific filters.

During November, expect a lot about NaNo. Sometimes I even post my whole novel (friends-locked, of course), whereas other times, I just post progress or ramblings about writing.
